A sustainable network connecting Green Square to the surrounding area

Project Idea

Connecting Green Square

Sustainable Sydney 2030 establishes Green Square as a leading example of environmental, social and economic sustainability.  It aims to build on the strengths of adjoining neighbourhoods and ensure environmental improvement in renewal areas also improves the environmental performance of the City as a whole.

  • Action is needed to:

    • Achieve environmental sustainability
    • Ensure renewal areas are integrated with the existing city areas
    • Respond to Sydney’s changing population and demographic
    • Develop a clear, city-wide vision to guide individual project development
    • Recognise the role of streets, parks and squares in public life
    • Achieve design excellence
  • 2030 goals:

    • Ensure renewal areas make major contributions to the sustainability of the City
    • Plan for a beautiful City and promote design excellence
    • Ensure new development complements the diversity and character of the surrounding suburbs
    • Improve the City’s streets, parks and open space and enhance their role for pedestrians
    • Plan for the future structure of the City
    • Improve housing affordability and diversity
