Registration of Water Cooling & Warm Water Systems
The Public Health (Microbial Control) Regulation 2000 requires the Council to maintain a register of water cooling and warm water systems installed on premises within its area. The owner or occupier of premises where a system is installed is required to provide information to Council in order for the register to be maintained. Evaporative cooling systems are not required to be registered.
If you would like to register a water cooling or warm water system or update information contained on the register please download the Water Cooling and Warm Water Registration Form and fax to the City of Sydney's Health Unit on 02 9265 9750 or email: garcher@cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au
The NSW Department of Health has produced a Code of Practice for the Control of Legionnaires’ Disease. This Code contains information on accepted practices to minimise the transmission of Legionnaire's Disease through hazard minimisation in air handling systems, water cooling systems, hot and warm water systems, evaporative coolers and compost and potting mix. You can download the Code of Practice as a PDF document.
