Huge ornate altars crowded with offerings and rich in meaning and symbolism dominate the scene at the NSW Evergreen Taoist Church, one of Sydney’s newest Chinese places of worship. Housed in part of the Mounted Police Barracks, this historic site’s new role will be explained by temple staff in a tour to celebrate the arrival of the Year of the Rat.
