At the Periphery of Space
investigates the personal journey of Anie Nheu, the daughter of a Hakka father and mother born in Hubei. Raised outside of Chinese speaking countries, Anie’s heritage was one of distillation and dislocation, but her collection of drawings in different media is imbued with a sense of belonging and a search for identity.

Anie’s individual drawings are executed and mark makings, just as in the captured fragments of experiences of living in different cultures at different periods of time. The process takes on the metaphor of how embodied experiences are processed into a whole in identity formation.
