Draft Floodplain Risk Management Study and draft Floodplain Risk Management Plan for the Green Square - West Kensington Catchment

The City of Sydney is doing long term planning to manage any future risk of flooding in the Green Square and West Kensington Catchment area. We would like to invite you to comment on the results of the study and draft plan.

The City is developing floodplain risk management studies and developing risk management plans for all its catchment areas, to understand flood risks and help us mitigate and manage those risks.

The process is part of the NSW Government’s Flood Prone Land Policy, which aims to reduce the possible effects of flooding and flood liability on owners and occupiers. It will also help reduce losses resulting from floods.

The Green Square-West Kensington Catchment Floodplain Risk Management Study evaluated all factors in the use of flood-prone land, while the Floodplain Risk Management Plan describes how particular areas of flood prone land can best be used and managed.

The Green Square-West Kensington Catchment area Study and Plan will be exhibited publically from 9 May to 28 June 2011.

The exhibition period closed Tuesday 28 June 2011.
