Planning Proposal and Draft Development Control Plan for the Glebe Affordable Housing Project

Please Note: the exhibition period for this item has now closed.

Community Consultation and Public Exhibition

The City of Sydney invites submissions on two new draft planning controls for Lots 1-2 DP 233310 and Lot 1 DP 89872 (known as 1-3 Elger Street, 2-6 Elger Street and 83 Bay Street, Glebe) and the Elger and Stirling Street road reserves:

Background

The objective of the Planning Proposal is to permit development of residential flat buildings on the site of between four storeys (15m) and ten storeys (33m) in height (with the taller buildings located at the eastern and northern edges), with ground floor retail and around 480 dwellings that are a mix of social, affordable and private housing.

The Draft Development Control Plan includes more detailed provisions to ensure the future development integrates with the existing neighbourhoods surrounding the site, and to ensure any potential impacts of redevelopment on, for example, traffic, sunlight access, heritage significance, and residential amenity are minimised.
