Proposed Shared Path on Sydney Park Road
Please Note: the exhibition period for this item has now closed.
More people are riding their bikes in Sydney than ever before, and the City of Sydney is providing safe and congestion-free bike paths to make riding a practical transport option.
The next link in our bike network will connect Sydney Park and Centennial Park, via schools, parks and the Danks Street art and café precinct.
This includes a proposed shared path on both sides of Sydney Park Road, between King Street and Mitchell Road.
Pedestrians and bike riders can both use shared paths. They are marked by pictures of a pedestrian and a bike on the pavement or street sign. New shared paths also have blue line markings on the pavement.
Along the route, work will include upgrading or replacing pram ramps and driveways, resurfacing asphalt, fixing access points to underground services (phone, water, etc), and in some places relocating street furniture. Energy Australia has already upgraded street lighting where required.
What It Means For You
- Parking – parking will not be affected
- Pedestrians – on shared paths, bike riders need to give way to pedestrians at all times and ride slowly
- Signs – shared paths are marked with special signs and blue lines.
