Activities on Footpaths
While ensuring that all pedestrians are able to move on and off the street without any increased safety risk, the City is investigating policies that promote activities such as outdoor seating for food and drink premises and the display of goods on public footways.
Update
In 2007, the City exhibited discussion papers relating to the management of activities on public footways. Following exhibition, Council received a number of submissions across a range of issues. The City is currently reviewing submissions and developing an appropriate response for establishing outdoor seating areas and displaying goods on public footways in the City of Sydney.

The City has engaged access consultants Access Australia Pty Ltd to assist the City in resolving the matters raised in submissions. The consultants together with key stakeholders will assist Council in developing revised policies and procedures.
