City Plan

Public exhibition of the Draft LEP & DCP has now ended and the submissions are currently being considered.

The new City Plan is a single set of planning controls that will guide future development throughout the City of Sydney Local Government Area.

The City Plan consists of a single Local Environmental Plan (LEP) and Development Control Plan (DCP) and supporting information. A Local Environmental Plan is the principal legal document for controlling development and guiding planning decisions made by Council. A Development Control Plan is a non-legal document which supports the LEP with more detailed planning and design guidelines.  The supporting information includes a policy which establishes the procedure for undertaking a competitive design process and the draft Green Square Affordable Housing Program.

These draft documents were on public exhibition 2 February 2011 to 21 April 2011.  This was the result of several years of studies, reviews and consultation with the community. This has been prepared to meet new State Government guidelines for local planning documents and will simplify planning processes in the City of Sydney. Importantly, these documents will help plan sustainability for a growing population whilst protecting heritage and character of our villages.
