The City is working with its communities to protect and improve the character and amenity of local neighbourhoods.

This new strategy is called Local Action Plans.

The City’s Local Action Plan team this year won the coveted 'RH Dougherty Reporting to your Community Award' for our Local Action Plan booklet, A Snapshot of Projects: Local Action Plan Strategy 2007-2010. The award-winning booklet is the result of the fine efforts of many different business units throughout Council.

Judges comments: The originality and scale of the project and publication was hard to beat. Brilliant documents and comprehensive community engagement.

Your Local Action Plan

Implementation of your Local Action Plan is now underway after extensive community consultation throughout 2006 & 2007. For updates on Significant Projects please come to the community forums advertised for your area or download the Local Action Plan Presentation.

Central Business
Suburbs include; Sydney, Haymarket, Millers Point, Dawes Point and The Rocks. Localities include; Circular Quay, Chinatown and Darling Harbour.

City East
Suburbs include; Woolloomooloo, Potts Point, Elizabeth Bay, Rushcutters Bay, Darlinghurst. Localities include; Kings Cross and East Sydney.

City South
Alexandria, St Peters - North of Canal Rd & East of Barwon Park Rd, Zetland, Beaconsfield, Rosebery - North of Gardeners Rd. Localities include; Green Square.

City West
Suburbs include; Pyrmont and Ultimo. Localities include; Broadway.

Inner East
Suburbs include; Surry Hills, Redfern East, Moore Park, Paddington - South of Oxford Street and Centennial Park. Localities include; Strawberry Hills.

Inner South
Suburbs include; Redfern and Waterloo. Localities include; Eveleigh.

Inner West
Suburbs include; Camperdown (South of Parramatta Road), Chippendale, Darlington, Newtown - North of King Street & East of Church Street, Erskineville. Localities include; Sydney Uni, Golden Grove, Macdonaldtown.

North West
Suburbs include; Glebe, Forest Lodge, Annandale - east of The Crescent and Camperdown (North of Parramatta Road). Localities include; Glebe Point.
