Consent Authorities Map

City of Sydney Council is the consent authority, except as provided by the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 or the City of Sydney Act 1988. Under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, the Planning Minister is the consent authority for Major Projects.

Major Projects are described in State Environmental Planning Policy (Major Projects) 2005. For further detail in relation to this State Environmental Planning Policy please refer to www.legislation.nsw.gov.au.

The map below details the relevant consent authorities for development within the City of Sydney and shows where:

  1. City of Sydney Council or the Central Sydney Planning Committee is the consent authority
  2. The Planning Minister is the consent authority
  3. The Planning Minister is the consent authority for
  • development that is the subdivision of land or has a capital investment value of more than $5 million; and
  • development that has a capital investment value of more than $5 million.
