Environmental data (indicators) are used to monitor trends and the effectiveness of biodiversity management programs. The main biodiversity indicators are summarised below. Additional data will be added in future years after finalisation of the City’s Urban Ecology Strategic Action Plan - visit What the City is Doing for more information.

Flora and Fauna of the Pyrmont Peninsula
A recent study of the decline of indigenous plants and animals on the Pyrmont Peninsula since European settlement in 1788 is likely to be representative of declines throughout the City. The estimated change in species diversity is illustrated below.
