Smart Green Apartments
The City of Sydney's new Smart Green Apartments program will support buildings to become more sustainable, cost effective and efficient.
By participating your building's Owners Corporation will receive:
- A subsidised building energy audit;
- A subsidised water monitoring and efficiency plan;
- Costed options to make your building greener and more efficient;
- Knowledge and skills building.
Participate in the program
A five building pilot for Smart Green Apartments is already underway and we are calling for registrations of interest for the next twenty five buildings to work with in 2012. Click here to register your interest.
The five Smart Green Apartments pilot buildings are:
- Parkridge Apartments, Darlinghurst;
- Signature Apartments, Redfern;
- Hyde Park Towers, Sydney CBD;
- Glebe Gardens, Glebe;
- Aria Apartments, Waterloo.
Energy audits for the 5 pilot buildings are subsidised by the Office of Environment and Heritage’s Energy Saver program.
Smart Green Apartments Forum
The Smart Green Apartments Forum was held at the Powerhouse Museum on 24 November 2011. Watch the presentations from the forum to learn how Executive Committees, Owners Corporations and building managers are tackling sustainability in apartment buildings. The forum was presented in partnership with the Powerhouse Museum and Green Strata www.greenstrata.com.au.

More about Smart Green Apartments
Smart Green Apartments is a 5 year, 2-phase City of Sydney program working towards a more sustainable apartment building sector. Within the City of Sydney area, 75% of residents live in apartment buildings. These vertical villages consume close to 40% of the City’s water, 10% of its energy and create around 50% of residential waste.
Phase 1 of Smart Green Apartments is focused on developing and delivering the program with 30 buildings (piloting with 5 buildings).
Eligibility
Smart Green Apartments is a program for medium and high density buildings (20 units or more) within the City of Sydney area.
