Ecology of Pyrmont peninsula 1788 - 2008
Through an environmental grant from the City of Sydney, Dr John Broadbent, through the auspices of Pyrmont Progress Inc, has compiled a seminal work examining the flora and fauna of the Pyrmont peninsula including comparison of 1788 with 2008.
The report shows that major transformations over the past 200 years have resulted in highly impoverished native flora and fauna on the peninsula. In response, Part 8 of the report outlines ways to improve monitoring and restoration of habitat and core ecological processes. These recommendations are to be reviewed as part of the City's Urban Ecology Survey and Strategic Action Plan work underway.
