Koori Collection

The Koori Collection currently comprises over 1250 items on Australian Aboriginal related subjects such as politics, land rights, sport and the history of the arrival of the first Europeans. The collection is held at the Waterloo branch.

The City of Sydney Library Network aims to strengthen the collection of Koori related material across all branches of the library.

The library aims to:

  • Develop a comprehensive collection of materials relating to Koori history, life and customs
  • Ensure that the items in this collection are accessible to library visitors

Items in this collection are included in the City of Sydney Library Network web catalogue.

National Indigenous Times

Koori collection at Waterloo Library

This fortnightly publication is available at Waterloo Library, where back issues are kept one year. It is also available at Customs House Library (3 weeks of back-issues available).

The Mitchell and Dixson Australiana collections are a rich source of material relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
The State Library also produces INFOKOORI an index to the Koori Mail, a national fortnightly newspaper that focuses on the Indigenous people of Australia, from May 1991 to date.
