Disability Access

The City of Sydney provides an extensive range of services and programs designed to support and encourage seniors and people with disabilities to participate in community life.

Building Access

The following libraries have wheelchair-accessible buildings:

Customs House, Glebe, Green Square, Haymarket, Kings Cross, Newtown, Surry Hills, Ultimo, Waterloo.

Customs House, Green Square, Kings Cross, Surry Hills and Ultimo Library have accessible toilets.

Access to Library resources

Below is a list of services for library for clients with a disability.

Home Library Service

The Home Library Service provides a free and convenient way for homebound residents of the city to borrow library books and other items. Library staff will bring a fresh supply of reading material to your doorstep regularly. More information

Audio Books

All branches of the library offer a selection of audio books for loan (CD and cassettes). Check the online catalogue for a list of available titles

Large Print Books

All branches of the library offer a selection of large print books for loan. For the latest titles available check the 'New Large Print Books' page

Magnifiers

Magnifier

Smartview CCTV -  a magnifier for people with low vision. It magnifies books, magazines and newspapers.

Available at Customs House, Glebe, Haymarket, Kings Cross, Newtown, Ultimo, Waterloo.

Description
Place a book or object under the magnifier for an enlarged image with maximum sharpness, brightness and contrast. Tested by low vision experts it provides the best possible image. Free access, no bookings required.
