Street cat rehoming program

Since September 2015, we have rescued over 230 kittens from the city’s streets. All kittens are placed into foster care to be rehabilitated, and receive worming, flea and veterinary treatment before being desexed, microchipped, vaccinated and rehomed.

The program is in collaboration with Inner City Strays, NSW Cat Protection Society, Alexandria Veterinary Hospital and Animal Welfare League NSW.

If you are concerned about street cats in your area, please contact us.

The Sutherland Shire Animal Shelter

Employees at the Sutherland Shire Council Animal Shelter act as a matchmaker between the stray cats and dogs brought to them and potential owners' lifestyles and preferences.

Each animal is registered, microchipped and desexed, before being made available for adoption.

The dedicated staff and volunteers at the shelter spend time with the animals to make sure they are exercised, socialised and able to maintain a solid bond with humans.

The Sutherland Shire Council Animal Shelter has a no-kill policy, meaning that only dogs or cats deemed dangerous or that have an illness affecting their quality of life are put down. Therefore, the shelter has many cats and dogs looking for good homes.
