Waterloo Park and Waterloo Oval

Waterloo Park and Waterloo Oval located on opposite sides of McEvoy Street at the junction of Elizabeth Street provide diverse opportunity for passive and active recreation.

The contoured Waterloo Park contains an enclosed children’s playground and a basketball practice court, beyond which the park is an off-leash area at all times.

The floodlit Waterloo Oval features a sporting field suitable for cricket and rugby. The Fernside Skate Park located at the southern section of the oval features a 920 square meter plaza style skate facility, the first of its kind to copy the urban streetscape layout popular with young skaters was designed in consultation with a committee of local youth, skateboarders and South Sydney Youth Service.

Waterloo Park playground was recently upgraded with:

  • New playground equipment including a new slide, swing, roundabout, see saw and combination unit
  • Rubber softfall to meet Australian Standards
  • New seating area and paving
  • New garden beds and tree planting.
