Rubbish collection & recycling

This section tells you what you need to know about collection days, what happens to your recycling, how to book a waste collection service, what to do with hazardous waste and how to get in touch with us.

Trash ManThe City of Sydney is committed to providing every resident with recycling and collection services to help reduce household waste and cut down the amount that goes to landfill. As a community we currently divert about 30% of our waste from landfill. We need to work together to increase this figure.

Why recycle?

Recycling has many benefits for our community. It:

  • conserves natural resources and protects the environment
  • increases the life span of materials
  • reduces greenhouse gas emissions
  • saves landfill space
  • reduces disposal costs.

Are you a recycling guru?

Do the test to find out.
