Schools

The City's Schools Waste Education Program is available to all primary and secondary schools K -12 in the City of Sydney, for both government and independent schools.
The City supports schools in:
- Assisting school communities to develop a School Environmental Management Plan
- Advising on waste reduction including recycling, composting and worm farming
- Recommending environmental service providers
- Conducting environmental audits on waste generation, biodiversity, water and energy use
- Linking your school with other regional schools and environmental education centres
- Providing resources for environmental/sustainability programs
Recent Initiatives
Since 2000, over 80% of schools in the City of Sydney have participated in the Waste Education Program including:
- Alexandria Park Community School – The Sustainable Inner City Backyard Project
- Sydney Girls High School – Worm Farming and Biodiversity
- Crown St Public School – What is Waste and How to Recycle
- Sydney Distance Education High School – Developing a Whole School Approach to Environmental Management
