Collection Information

The City of Sydney provides weekly residential waste and recycling collection services to all residences in the Local Government Area. The service fee will appear on your annual rates notice.

Collection Days

You can download a PDF document featuring your waste and recycling collection days. Collection days apply to single dwellings only.

If you are unsure about your collection day or have a question about your service please call the Customer Service Centre on 02 9265 9333.

Please Note:Collection can take place anytime between 5.30am and 10.00pm*.

All waste put out for collection should be placed in your bin with the lid closed. If lids are not closed it places an unnecessary health risk on those collecting the bins and they may not be collected.

*Collections outside these hours are commercial services and not part of the City's operations.

Your Waste Bin

A range of carry bins and wheelie bins are available for waste storage.

Residents may opt to pay for different bin sizes and styles*, according to their needs. The cost will be included in the domestic waste charge appearing on your annual rates notice.

If you require a larger or smaller bin or your current bin has been damaged or stolen, please contact our Customer Service Centre on 02 9265 9333 or fill in one of these forms.

Your Recycling Bin or Crate

Recycling crates are provided for single dwellings or 120L and 240L wheelie bins for shared services.

Recycling crates for single dwellings may be collected from your nearest Council Location. For units and shared services contact our Customer Service Centre on 02 9265 9333 to arrange delivery of wheelie bins.

All households should have two recycling bins or crates, one for mixed container recycling and the other for paper and cardboard. If you do not have separate recycling bins, please contact the Customer Service Unit on 02 9265 9333, crates can be collected from your nearest Council Location.
