What you can do
The best thing you can do to help Sydney become a Zero Waste community is to avoid waste in the first place.
If you already recycle, but want to do more, the City of Sydney offers a range of services and resources to help you cut down the amount of waste in your bin:
- Reuse and recycle more
- Free worm farming & composting workshops
- Community gardens
- The Watershed Sustainability Centre
- Schools program
Home
- Think twice before you bin it – most things can be used again.
- Reuse, repair, restore or adapt things rather than throw them out.
- Avoid excess packaging when you go shopping.
- Give away or sell second-hand clothes, toys and furniture.
Office
- Use recycled stationery products and remade toner cartridges.
- Audit office waste to improve waste and recycling systems.
- Use email and online publishing to avoid using paper.
- Keep rubbish out of recycling bins so paper isn’t contaminated.
