Fashion design meets technology

The FashTech Lab program will bridge the gap between fashion design and textile manufacturing operations and technology. The 6-month program will match Australian fashion brands with technology businesses to exchange ideas. These ideas will be industry-backed, commercially viable pathways that may transform how the sector does business.

Five technology businesses will explore their new concepts with 12 Australian fashion brands based in the City of Sydney area. These organisations will have the opportunity to collaborate and exchange knowledge through a series of webinars, diagnostic workshops and in-person sessions.

In the wake of the global pandemic, this is a critical time where fashion brands should look to digital strategies to grow, innovate and future proof their businesses.

These sessions will identify and test industry solutions that increase day-to-day sustainable operations. Particular focus areas include digitising the design process, streamlining workflows, using artificial intelligence or augmented reality to enhance ecommerce and reducing textile waste.

The FashTech Lab program includes

  • FashTech Lab Incubator webinars, putting the spotlight on supply-chain challenges and solutions – late 2021
  • FutureMap workshop sessions using a diagnostic mapping tool with a focus on digital manufacturing – late 2021
  • Knowledge Exchange Taskforce sessions looking at the challenges and industry-wide technology solutions – early 2022.

This innovative program will be presented with the support of a City of Sydney knowledge exchange sponsorship. Visit the FashTech Lab website to find out more.
