New depot at Alexandra Canal

What we’re doing
Construction of the Alexandra Canal Works Depot in the community subdivision at 67C Bourke Road, Alexandria, next to the Waverley Depot, alongside the canal.
The facility replaces 3 existing depots:
- Epsom Road, Zetland
- Marian Street, Redfern
- Gerard Street, Alexandria.
It will accommodate 150 employees from our fleet, cleansing and waste, civil maintenance and construction services.
The building has been designed with a strong emphasis on environmental sustainability. This includes natural ventilation and lighting, roof water collection and re-use, solar power, energy and water-efficient equipment and locally produced products where possible. A significant element of the works was the use of eco concrete to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide embodied in the construction.
