Why we’re doing this
After many years running the Eternity Playhouse, Darlinghurst Theatre Company has ceased operations. In July 2024, creditors resolved to place the company into liquidation.
Eternity Playhouse will remain a theatre and will be back in operation soon.
What we're doing
We’re carrying out essential maintenance works at Eternity Playhouse while we consider management models for the space to best meet the needs of the local performing arts sector.
Works include:
- replacing the waterproofing, remediation of steel and restoring steelwork finishes at the Palmer Street entrance
- repairing water damaged areas including the changeroom ceiling, loading dock walls, level 2 office and stairway landing area
- installing waterproofing, ventilation and drainage on the lower ground western wall
- installing new flooring
- structural assessment and conservation work to the heritage wall inside the theatre.
