Why we’re doing this
Boy with Paddle Fountain (also known as the cherub fountain) is the first ornamental drinking fountain to be donated to and erected in a suburban municipality or a town in New South Wales.
We’re undertaking important restorative work to help preserve this piece of public art.
What we’re doing
- The pond will be waterproofed and tiles replaced.
- The hydraulic system will be upgraded.
- The cast iron elements will be repainted.
Part of the Strong Memorial Reserve will be closed while this work takes place.
Access through Elizabeth and Watson streets will remain open.
