Building new cycleways on Wellington Street, Waterloo

Planned

What we’re doing

We’re building cycleways on Wellington Street. They'll link people riding between the George Street cycleway to the one being built by Transport for NSW for the Waterloo metro station.

This cycling connection forms an important part of our bike network and makes getting around safer for people walking and riding.

Works include:

  • a new 150m cycleway on each side of Wellington Street, between Cope and George streets
  • removing the stop sign on Wellington Street to give east–west traffic the right of way
  • new stop lines on George Street at Wellington Street to improve safety
  • planting 3 new trees.

If you’re driving north on George Street, you’ll need to give way to all traffic travelling east or west on Wellington Street, including people riding bikes.
