Planting more trees on Thurlow Street, Redfern
Project Status: Completed
Works began in late April 2024 and were completed in June 2024.
What we’re doing
We’re planting 7 new trees on Thurlow Street and one new tree on Thurlow Lane in Redfern.
We’re installing:
- 3 raised landscaped median strips in the centre of Thurlow Street
- one kerb-side blister in Thurlow Lane
- 8 new trees to provide shade, cool the street and increase the overall canopy cover of the area to meet our greening targets.
Works will take place from 7am to 5pm, Monday to Friday and 8am to 1pm on Saturday as required.
We’ll take steps to minimise construction impacts on residents. There’ll be some machinery noise and dust.
Temporary changes to the traffic flow and parking will allow access for construction materials and equipment.
Why we are doing this
This is part of our work to keep our streets cool, calm and green.
Following community consultation, the project was endorsed by the Local Pedestrian Cycling and Traffic Calming Committee.
