Planting more trees on Walker Street, Redfern

Project Status: In progress

What we’re doing

We’ll plant 4-5 new trees on Walker Street in Redfern.

Works include:

  • 2 raised landscaped median strips on Walker Street between Cooper and James streets
  • 5 new trees to provide shade, cool the street and increase overall canopy cover to meet our greening targets.

No parking spaces will be permanently removed as part of the project. There’ll be enough space to safely parallel park on both sides of the street.

Our contractor QMC Group will carry out the works from 7am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, and 8am to 1pm on Saturday as required.

Steps will be taken to minimise impacts on you. There’ll be some machinery noise and dust. Temporary changes to the traffic flow and parking will allow access for construction materials and equipment.
