Intersections

Installed from 24 June 2021 to 4 July 2021
A building at night with illuminated rods protruding from its facade and graffiti covering its walls, situated at a street corner with a traffic light.

Large beams of white light pierce through an entire building, creating a spectacular installation visible from the street.

This artwork was temporary and is no longer at this location.

Artwork description

Intersections sees 120m of LED light beams dramatically break through a house in Surry Hills.

Appearing to go through walls, bedrooms, kitchen, floors, hallways and the ceiling, the installation creates a spectacular light show visible to passersby on the street.

Artist

Since 2011, Ian Strange has created works around the world which deconstruct and subvert our understanding of home and domestic architecture. Intersections is an extension of his global architectural intervention works. Often his works are created by cutting, lighting or painting buildings.

The project was built and installed in collaboration with Scoundrel Projects, Ian Strange Studio and OFFICE design.
