Frances Newton Reserve – new park created
We worked with our communities to design a green space for everyone to enjoy.
Project Status: Completed
Works started in September 2018 and completed in November 2018.
What we’re doing
Creating a community garden at 222 Palmer Street, Darlinghurst overseen by a local group, and an imaginative play space for local children.
The work included:
- new entry steps from Palmer Street and new park seating
- a community garden with vegetable garden beds, toolbox bench seat and a space for composting or a worm farm
- an imaginative play space including stepping stones, a hoop, speaking tubes, distorting mirrors, a rain wheel and timber animal play elements (2 echidnas and 1 wombat).
Some of the foundation from the Frances Newton Preschool has been retained as a tribute to the site's history.
