Works started in October 2024 and were completed in December 2024.
The reserve will reopen in early 2025 to allow plantings to grow.
We’re restoring the understorey by planting smaller plants, shrubs and ground cover underneath the trees in McConville Reserve, Beaconsfield.
We’ll weed the area and replace exotic species with local native species. This will improve shelter and food for native birds, bees, butterflies and skinks. Increasing the diversity of plant species will also improve pollination and add visual interest to the reserve.
A new path will be established so people can better enjoy this green space.
Our contractor Wildflower will carry out the works.
The reserve will be closed during the works. Site preparation and planting will occur in the first 3 months. The reserve will stay closed for 6 months to protect the new plantings.
