Quarry Green upgrade works
Ultimo residents and visitors can enjoy more green open space after the park's makeover.
Project Status: Completed
What we’re doing
The upgrade includes:
- new seats, lights, water bubblers, bike racks, signs and bins
- larger lawn areas, new trees and garden beds
- new landscaping, pathways, paving and retaining walls
- a new shared zone on the section of Bulwara Road that goes through the park.
The Quarry Green upgrade is part of our ongoing commitment to providing residents with well-designed parks and open spaces. Popular community events, including the Ultimo Pyrmont Uptown festival, Christmas carols and Lunar New Year celebrations are held in the park and will benefit from the improved access and extra open space.
Green spaces in the park have increased by 25% and improved pathways provide a safer walking experience and easier access to the park.
50 of the park’s 56 trees were preserved during the upgrade and 11 new ones were planted. New benches were added to the grassy areas and the lower gravelled area for visitors to sit and relax.
There are more than 400 large, medium and pocket parks and open spaces in our area, including the award-winning Redfern Park and Paddington Reservoir Gardens.
Our parks cover more than 191 hectares and include playgrounds with equipment for children of all ages, sports facilities, green spaces and off-leash areas for dogs.
