Artwork description

Five shopping trolleys appear in a public space. Two fall in love. One grapples to find a friend. And 3 ignite in a dance of anarchy over a breathtaking, high-octane, 20 minute performance from the always-thrilling Shaun Parker & Company.

Artist

Shaun Parker & Company is a bold Australian dance company led by award winning artistic director/ choreographer Shaun Parker, whose works have toured Australia, the UK, Malaysia, the US, Singapore, Germany, New Zealand and France. Shaun Parker’s London Olympic commission Spill, a fast and furious playground performance, was a hit at Art & About Sydney 2013.

Composer Nick Wales, a 2014 Helpmann Award nominee for Best Score, has collaborated on many Parker works including Shaun Parker & Company’s recent Sydney Festival hit AM I. Nick has worked with Sarah Blasko and is a co-composer with the critically acclaimed CODA.

Cast includes Toby Derrick, Lewis Rankin, Sophia Ndaba, Jordan Hanna and Sean Marcs.

Shaun Parker & Company is supported by the Australia Council for the Arts, Arts NSW and the Seymour Centre. Trolleys was originally commissioned by the UK’s Without Walls Commission, British Council and performed by C-12 Dance Theatre for the 2012 London Cultural Olympiad.
