Child restraint checks
What we’re doing
We offer free safety checks on car seats and booster seats for children.
The service is available for residents in our local area.
If you live outside the City of Sydney area, contact your local council for information about nearby child car seat safety checks.
Our regular pop-up clinics are held in the car park of the Eveleigh Early Learning and Preschool at 41 Henderson Road, Eveleigh (get directions with Google Maps).
Authorised restraint fitters will inspect your car seat or booster seat to ensure it is properly installed. There are giveaways for kids and information on road safety.
Bookings are essential. Call 02 9246 7630 or email [email protected].
Our next clinics will be from 9am to 1pm on:
- Saturday 14 December 2024
- Saturday 22 February 2025
- Saturday 5 April 2025.
If you can’t make one of our free clinics, you can visit an authorised fitting station.
Transport for NSW no longer provides vouchers for fitting stations.
Why we’re doing this
All children under 7 must use an approved child car seat when travelling in a car.
This means:
- children younger than 6 months must be secured in a rear-facing child car seat
- 6 months to 4 years must be secured in a rear or forward-facing child car seat
- 4 to 7 years must be secured in a forward-facing restraint or booster seat
- younger than 4 years must travel in the back seat of a vehicle with 2 or more rows.
