Child restraint checks

The voucher program for child car seat safety checks closed on Friday 24 May.

Our next series of checking clinics begin in August.

More information will be available in July.

If you need a child car seat check or fit, visit an authorised fitting station.

Australian law requires children travelling in cars to be secured in approved restraints, which means children:

  • younger than 6 months must be secured in a rear-facing restraint
  • 6 months to 4 years must be secured in a rear or forward-facing restraint
  • 4 to 7 years must be secured in a forward-facing restraint or booster seat
  • younger than 4 years must travel in the back seat of a vehicle with 2 or more rows.

If you live outside the City of Sydney’s area, please contact your local council for information about nearby child restraint checks.
