Overpayment of City of Sydney rates can only be refunded if your account is in credit.
Once your application is received a City of Sydney officer will contact you if further information is required.

What you need to do

Download and complete the rates overpayment refund application
Along with this application, you will need to provide sufficient evidence of the payment. Ensure that all fields have been filled out correctly. Please note that fields on the form marked with an asterisk (*) are mandatory and must be completed before submitting your refund application.

Before you start
- Only the property owner may apply for a rates overpayment refund.
- The refund will be processed only if the account is in credit.
After you finish
- Refund processing time may take up to 3 weeks from the date we receive your completed application.
