More than Meets the Eye is a fascinating display of items documenting our civic history, respecting our cultural diversity and reflecting on the changing nature of Sydney and its people.

The civic collection enhances Sydney Town Hall and is a dynamic resource that provides heritage furniture and furnishings for the historic interiors of Sydney Town Hall and contemporary artworks, including pieces by Aboriginal, young and emerging artists. It’s also a valuable reference for the contribution our civic representatives make to the life and soul of Sydney.

Now with a dedicated exhibition space, we can share a small sample of our collection with a wider audience and reveal some of the hidden stories about the objects and their relationship to Sydney. This adds to our understanding and appreciation for our unique cultural heritage.

The exhibition is on display on level 2 of Town Hall House from June 2024 to December 2025.
