Apply for temporary access to City of Sydney parks and reserves
Project Status: When you need to do this
We may enter into temporary access licence agreements with applicants seeking to access and conduct minor activities on City of Sydney land.
We will assess the application and liaise with the applicant about the suitability of the proposal and approvals required.
If temporary structures are required to be in place for 52 days or more, we may refer you to our planning team about any development application requirements.
Approval is required to temporarily access our open spaces, including community land, parks and Crown land for:
- vehicle access
- plant and equipment
- maintenance/construction related access
- site compounds
- site investigations.
Don’t use this service for access to roads and footpaths. These require a road opening permit.
If you require temporary access to City of Sydney land to undertake construction activities, contact [email protected] with details of your proposal.

We’ll contact you within 5 working days to discuss your application.
Approval can only be given if the request complies with the Local Government Act 1993 and other applicable legislation.
We’ll confirm in writing if the City of Sydney supports your proposal and where applicable, what type of licence agreement you’ll enter into with us.
Pay fees and bond
Once the application is endorsed, we’ll calculate access, restoration and bond fees.
Fees can be paid online or in person at one of our customer service centres.
