What we’re doing
We’re inviting community feedback about ownership of the watercraft currently being stored on the foreshore of Rushcutters Bay and Beare Park: we want to know how often they are being used and how many are abandoned.
The City of Sydney’s parks and playgrounds are important recreational spaces for residents, particularly during Covid, and play a key role in the community’s physical, emotional and social well-being.
Leaving equipment unattended on public land used by the community for a wide variety of recreational activities, creates safety, access, maintenance and aesthetic issues.
We will explore a range of solutions based on feedback received during consultation. We will keep the community updated with next steps as we progress. Watercraft identified as abandoned at the end of the consultation period will be removed.
