Discussion paper on short and long-term rental accommodation
Our response to the NSW Government.
In early 2024 the NSW Government released a discussion paper on the planning policy and regulatory framework for short-term rental accommodation. It included options to encourage the supply of long-term rental accommodation.
In our submission on the discussion paper, we referred to our study of short-term rental accommodation in the City of Sydney local area for the NSW Government to consider in its review. Council resolved to commission the study in April 2023.
The NSW Government will consider all submissions and investigate policy changes with the objective of unlocking housing supply and improving housing affordability in NSW.
Following the NSW Government’s review of the short-term rental accommodation framework, we’ll consider if further changes to local planning controls are required. We’ll report any proposed changes to Council.
