Become a storyteller at one of our spaces

All applicants must:

1. Be an Australian citizen or resident
2. Be aged 18 years or above
3. Have public liability insurance for $10 million – there may be some instances where we’ll cover this
4. Accept the terms of the expression of interest specifications and contract
5. Ensure considerate use of the space as it will be open to the public during sessions
6. Consider basic production and technical requirements to produce the program due to programming space limitations
7. Have a valid working with children check for relevant activities
8. Disclose collaborators and any further funding received to produce the program
9. Indicate when it can take place during the year or if you’ve nominated dates.

We want you to tell us about your story, its relevance to our area and how you intend to share it with local communities.

Sessions will be in person at a library or community space and run for a maximum of 60 minutes.

When evaluating ideas, we’ll also consider:

• creativity and originality
• your experience as a storyteller
• perceived quality of audience experience
• budget and timeline.

Your responsibilities

• Producing the project between February 2025 and December 2025
• Managing all aspects of the project’s development, content, planning and presentation
• Coordinating and managing all relevant people
• Supplying market and promotional material (text and images)
• Producing the project in person at a library or community space for a maximum of 60 minutes
• Other requirements agreed on with us

Our support

We can offer key resources and assistance, including:

• support with developing the creative concept
• support selecting the most suitable space for your project
• allocating and booking venues
• facilitating and hosting project meetings or creative development workshops
• offering limited technical support depending on venue and project requirements
• project marketing and publicity
• planning for risks and documenting the event.

The resources and support we provide will be determined as part of the evaluation process and reflected in the contract.

This is an open call for expression of interest proposals.

The following information is required to be submitted using the online form:

• your contact details and resume (indicate project leader for communications)
• storytellers statement (200 to 250 words maximum) describing the story and format
• funding amount requested for the project.

Please ensure all files are clearly labelled with your name. The maximum file size for each document is 5MB.

We’ll pay up to $10,000 (excluding GST) for each project, with a minimum of 5 selected. Your budget must be itemised and include:

• fees for all storytellers
• fair rates of payment for creative personnel
• project management costs
• technical and production costs.

Projects that propose or require third party funding or sponsorship will be considered, as long as it’s clearly detailed in your submission.
