What we’re doing

We invite your feedback on our updated pesticide use notification plan and weed management policy.

The pesticide use notification plan sets out how we let the community know about the use of pesticides to let people avoid potential contact.

The plan ensures that pesticides are applied to public places in a safe and responsible way, minimising harm to the community and the environment. We’re committed to ensuring that pesticide use is justified, minimised and that the lowest toxicity of pesticides necessary are used to achieve our service levels.

We’ll continue to investigate and use alternatives to pesticides where available, safe and effective.

The objectives of the weed management policy are to:

  • contribute to the biosecurity of Greater Sydney
  • demonstrate our commitment to minimising the use of pesticides and prioritising the use of alternatives where safe, feasible and effective
  • provide safe, high-quality and welcoming public places
  • protect the natural environment and public places.

Our weed management approach is balanced with the use of herbicide alternatives to prevent, control and eradicate weeds where possible. We only use herbicides where other techniques or methods are partially or fully ineffective.
