Project Status: Completed
The Local Pedestrian, Cycling and Traffic Calming Committee endorsed these plans at its meeting on 14 November 2024. Works are expected to start in late 2024.
What we’re doing
We propose to plant around 4 tallowwood trees on Walker Street in landscaped median strips, between Cooper Street and James Street.
As well as beautifying the street, these trees will provide shade and reduce the urban heat island effect. Speeding up our urban street tree planting is an important way we can increase the city’s canopy cover and help reduce the impacts of climate change.
No parking spaces will be permanently removed as part of the project. There will be enough space for drivers to safely parallel park on both sides of the street.
