What we’re doing
The review of environmental factors details the impacts the project may have on the environment and steps to avoid, minimise and manage those impacts.
The design includes:
- new post top lights along the central avenue and secondary paths
- new tapered mast lights along the path perimeter to provide consistent light to lawn areas
- improved wall lights at Sandringham Gardens
- new lighting to monuments, statues and the Nagoya Gardens
- new main switchboards o supply power to the park
- power supply for events in the park through discreet power bollards
- more CCTV cameras with 5 proposed for Hyde Park north and 3 for Hyde Park south to boost security in the park.
This project is part of a suite of works identified in the 2006 plan of management and masterplan for Hyde Park. The plans identify infrastructure replacements and improvements to address the impacts on the park from its increased use and popularity.
