Disclose a political donation or gift
Offerings to City of Sydney councillors, their party, employees or contractors must be declared when making or commenting on a planning application.
Project Status: When you need to do this
If you’re making or commenting on a development application, you must disclose any gifts or donations made to City of Sydney councillors, their party, employees or contractors within the past 2 years.
What you need to do
-
Download and complete a disclosure statement
Ensure that all fields have been filled in correctly. Fields on this form marked with an asterisk (*) are mandatory and must be completed.
-
Lodge with your planning application or submission
You can lodge the completed disclosure statement as part of the supporting documentation for an application or when providing comment.
This form should only be lodged as part of an application or comment about a specific matter to be considered.
Before you start
Gifts and donations offered at the time councillors were a candidate for election must be declared.
Donations or gifts given to employees or approved contractors must also be disclosed.
Reportable donations and gifts need to be disclosed if they were given by:
- the applicant or entity lodging an application
- any person or entity with a financial interest in an application
- any person or entity making a public comment about an application
Disclosing reportable donations and gifts covers the 2-year period before the application or comment was made, up until being determined by Council.
After you finish
We're required to retain the gift and donation disclosure statements made by applicants and people lodging public feedback about applications.
The disclosures can be made available to the public after an access to information request has been made under the Government Information (Public Access) Regulation 2009.
