Why we’re doing this

The policy for hoisting and construction activities on and above roads is due for review. Local approvals policies must be reviewed after each Council election.

What we’re doing

The policy provides the framework for regulating and approving hoisting operations and construction activities on and above public roads.

It aims to:

  • control, regulate and approve relevant work
  • minimise barriers for people walking, cycling and driving, and other impacts
  • maintain visual attractiveness of public spaces near worksites.

A code of practice will help ensure construction-related activities on and/or above roads are safe and accessible.
